Ethics 1.01 for Optometrists
First rule of ethics taught to us is 'Do Not Date You Patients'
Doesnt matter if they are hot!, or rich! or its love at first sight.
So, for others, Do NOT ask your optometrist for a date! Tsk tsk
Note: this rule does not apply to patients who you were originally dating and who THEN become your patients.
Loophole? Disown them as your patient and THEN date them
Pick up lines Ive heard in the consult room
" You smell really nice today "
"You have beautiful/pretty/gorgeous eyes "
" Is that coloured contacts youre wearing or are your eyes that pretty colour "
" I'd like to thank you for all your help, can I buy you a cup of coffee / take you to dinner? "
" And my favourite, after asking the patient "Do you have any questions? ", the reply " Can i have your phone number?"
Its sweet and flattering, but somewhat gross when the men are balding and old enough to be your father :P
Interesting fact : There have been true cases of optometrists who have taken advantage of their patients. One example was a middle age optom who told his female patients to strip down so he could 'thoroughly examine her'. Sick bastard but also, stoopid female. Anyone with common sense would know that you dont need your optom to check out your genitalia to see if you have cataracts. Things to note, particular for girls. Optometrists do not need to touch any other part of you but your eyes/face maybe your glands around your throat. THATS IT!
