Radio silence... tap tap
It is 6 months down the track and due to Facebook I've forgotten how to blog.
So, the abbreviated version since February -
Passed my first exam with flying colours, awaiting for hopeless useless people at the university to organise my next exam, disliking the cold dark winter, eating too much good food, sprained my ankle which is recovering so annoyingly slow, making sure B doesnt go insane from too much study, working as hard as possible at work, still loving my B, family and friends and missing my girl J.
6 weeks ago, I slipped on a smooth floor on my way back from buying my lunch. Some dick spilt some OJ and didnt clean it up. i fell and sprained my left ankle pretty badly. As the shooting pain stretched from my ankle to my calf, I struggled to get up while 3 nice italian men sitting at a nearby cafe kindly helped me up and sat me in a chair.
Since then it has been a slow but progressive recovery. It turned out, i had stretched a couple of ligaments in my ankle so unfortunately, unlike just a rolled ankle with bruising, my injury would take me out of action for a while.
I've always been a fairly active girl. From young I loved track and field, basketball, martial arts and then through out university, gymming. 4 years ago, i found indoor rock climbing and I have enjoyed it ever since (thanks jen and dessy!). In all that time, i can't really recall a period where i have injured myself so badly that I could not do any physical activites for more than 1 week!
Oh wait... When i was about 15, I was riding around with my cousins and of course, being young and foolish, liked to ride around with 'no hands!'. One afternoon, perusing around the back streets of Perth, my cousin in front of me suddenly braked, and I -'look mum, no hands' - slammed straight into the back of his bike and landed on my arms - the scars have mostly healed but still are great for show and tell. But being 15, I healed fast, and was back on the bike in no time!
A decade or so later, healing is just not as quick as it used to be. After my second session with the physio, i feel that it's still going to be a few weeks before i can fully extend my foot. The up side is that i am back to jogging and cycling at the gym wanefully trying to lose my muffin top before the welcome warmth of summer.
I am really really over winter and I am really really over this ankle injury.
More healing required....
