Long weekends are so far and few between and it is a true pity the weather wasn't better for this October long weekend. But the cold gloomy weather didnt stop B and I from taking a road trip to Canberra for the annual Floriade flower festival. When we left Sydney, the weather was 18 degrees and raining and when we hit the great dividing range, it rained... a bad sign for the day to come. However, lucky for us Canberra decided to display a very pleasant semi-sunny 20 degrees and the cameras were clicking all the way. Like crazy japanese tourists, armed with our own cameras, B and I took a collective spectacular 300 pictures in the few hours we were there starting from Parliament house, lunch at Manuka Terrace (the hip cafe part of town) and then Floriade.
This was the first time either of us had been to Floriade and I was giddy with excitement while B was giddy from Zyrtec. It was great! The sun came out, the flowers were incredible bold and beautiful and we had the lovely company of Diana and Roy. Needless to say, a lot of pictures of flowers were taken and lots of pictures of couply shots too... *cheezy grin*. What is more romantic than ridiculous amounts of flowers and sunshine?!
Happy and giddy from all the flowers, we drove home at 5pm to face the biggest rainbow growing in front of us. We could see where it started and where it ended and the temptation to drive across paddocks was almost too strong to resist in search for the pot of gold. But with rainbows, came rain - buckets of it!!! But we didn't care, we were going home. Canberra displayed some gorgeous weather for the 4 hours we were there and for that we were grateful.
Im such a girlie girl.... I love flowers.... yay for Floriade
